Sunday 9th December - Tatton Yule Yomp (10k)

Macclesfield Run England had a good team out for the annual Tatton Yule Yomp. Runners were Sarah, Neil, Dawn, Cheryl, Oliver & Catherine. Jo (and Fudge) and also Catherine's parents came along to support the group.

The weather started off pretty abysmal and at 9.30 the heavens opened but by race start at 10.00am it had cleared a lot (only a very light drizzle). Conditions underfoot were very muddy in places and trail shoes were definitely needed.

The whole event was a great success for the group (in some cases this is the first race ever done - and hopefully not the last).

Note: Chip time is the time from running across the start time to crossing the finish line based on the chip in the number (this is always less than gun time which is measured when the start gun goes off). Chip poistion is your finish position based on chip time. Age cat position is shown as your position in your age category (eg Oliver was 192nd out of 261 men under 40 years old) and age catgeory shows which category you raced in.

Results as follows (click here for details) RESULTS:

Name         Chip Time  Chip Position  Age Cat Position  Age Category
Oliver G          59:00            524                       192/261              M (less than 40)
Dawn D         1:05:25          744                       103/196              F40 (age 40-49)
Catherine W  1:09:41          847                       200/274             F (less than 40)
Sarah Q         1:10:42         883                        211/274              F (less than 40)
Cheryl             1:14:36         957                       160/196              F40 (age 40-49)
Neil                    44:04            51                          4/79                  M50 (age 50-59)

There were 1052 runners.

BRILLIANT EFFORT!

Note: With times like these I must start to 'question' the 'beginner status' of some group members....

Here are a few pictures from the event....

Saturday 8th December

The start
Today was a very cold and icy morning with black ice on some pavements so we took a decision to run in the Bollin Valley to be a bit safer - sadly the mud was 'not quite' frozen and a few pairs of shoes started clean and ended up dirty (remember - mud is your friend). We ran the 'Prestbury Loop which is about 4 miles (along the Bollin across 'Shirley's Bridge, round the church and back along the Bollin Valley). The lighting was wonderful today (sadly my phone camera does not do it justice).

Well run everyone - I continue to see all of you working on beating your personal demons and I also see everybody making improvements - things that were 'hard' a few weeks ago are now looking to be 'easier'!

The session ended with a very kind and generous birthday gift to 'the old and grey one' (aka me) - it was a really lovely gesture that has made my day - thank you!

See you at the track next week,

Neil

Tuesday 4th December - Christmas Meal

We had a meet up in the Snow Goose for a pre-meal drink then a wet walk up to Pizza Express where after a bit of furniture removal (thanks Phil) we had a lovely evening demolishing pasta, pizza and the odd glass of wine. A very lovely way to start the Christmas celebrations with some special people who have done great things with their running!

Happy Christmas,

Neil

Tuesday 4th December - mid-week run

Wet, muddy, cold weather conditions did not prevent a group of intrepid runners heading out for a mid-week 'trot' Phil, Jo, Mel, Wendy B & Louise braved the elements around Kerridge and got wet and muddy. All this just so they could eat more dough balls.

Saturday 1st December - Track Session

Before the session
Wow - what a turnout - 20 runners came out today depsite cold conditions, injuries, coughs and sneezes - by popular request this week we rented the track behind the Leisure Centre for a 'track session'.and we saw some great running for the 400m 'reps' (see below for the times).

We warmed up, jogged round the track a couple of times then did a 5 minute 'interval' session (30s fast, 30s slow) and then finished with 3x400m 'reps' - and some amazing times were the result.

After such a session hopefully everyone feels confident about the mixed ability relay on 15th December (please remember to bring £2 for the track fee and some cake or biscuits to share afterwards (in the clubhouse by the track).
