Saturday 28th February - Middlewood with additions

E and D Group at the start
Numbers were down a little this week as so many people are running at Tatton, High Legh or Anglesey. Welcome to new group member Lisa.

Despite early damp conditions a good group of runners headed off along the Middlewood Way to do some 'progressive sprints' and a 'paced kilometre' - Some VERY good running today and I think a few people surprised themselves with pace!

Post run discussion (with crumpets) was at the Tythy Club.

Good effort!

Saturday 21st February - Macc Garden Centre

13 brave E group runners looked out the window this morning and decided they fancied a run in the snow. We met at the garden centre and set out onto the canal. 2.5 miles later we crossed the road at Fools Nook and headed up the hill to Leek Old Road. With a bit of a detour to avoid muddy fields, we ran back through Sutton making the route just over 4.5 miles. There was some excellent looping back this morning, some good puddle jumping and an overall good pace.

Many of the group (including two members of D group) enjoyed tea, coffee and tea cakes at the garden centre post run.

Enjoyable run - thank you everyone.

Saturday 14th February - Valentine's Run

The Start
18 runners appeared from the mist on a damp Saturday morning to enjoy Dawn and Wendy's 'Valentines Surprise' run.

After a thorough warm up session led by Louise,a future leader, we set off towards Kerridge via Tinkers Clough, Jenny's gate and Neil's Hill. At the top of Neil's hill we unveiled our first surprise, which was a right hand turn up yet another even tougher hill ( yet to be named, suggestions welcomed). We then ran down Lidgetts Lane towards the base of White Nancy and across the path towards the waterfall where we bumped into D group and wished them luck before their climb to Trig no 2.

Before returning to the Skate park, we ran around the football pitch in a crocodile formation for Dawn's surprise which was later unveiled as a very pretty heart shape on our Garmin workout maps.

A tough hilly run today but everyone put maximum effort in and a few of us surprised ourselves when we conquered some of those hills !

Coffee break at the top of that loooong hill. ;-)

The end ... time for coffee and cake!

Saturday 7th February - CAFOD or a D group 'taster'

This week, a group of E runners joined D group for a taster session, leaving a small but beautiful team of 8 running a shorter version of the CAFOD route.

Excellent running in cold and icy conditions, the group enjoyed the changing scenery, including an iced up canal, with birds finding limited access to the water.

Upon joining the Middlewood Way, the group happened upon the marathon training session, which spurred them all along.

Support this week from Abi Leyland and Kathryn Moore, 3 miles was covered in the session.

Well done everyone

Cheryl
