This evening we ran a 'paced' 10k at 10 min/mile with the aim of completing 10k in one hour. This was done to help those group members running the Manchester 10k looking to beat an hour but anyone was welcome.
We met on a very wet and muddy evening - 9 hardy group members came along. We warmed up and then set off at 10 mins/mile. Everyone worked really hard in tricky conditions and soon we all started to get into the even pacing. We discussed breathing patterns linked to the steps and this seemed to help. The plot of my pace is shown in the image below as well as a very blurred photograph of the group.
Several group members ran slightly ahead and beat the 1 hour time (well done) and a couple were just over the hour - several PBs were broken!
Well done - some good hard work tonight.
Many thanks to Gemma who acted as a 'sweeper' and thanks to Wendy B for post-run cookies!
Neil
