Sunday March 9th - High Legh 10K

The Start
A great 'E (for ELITE) Group' turnout for the annual High Legh 10k.

A beautiful sunny day, a small community organised event (457 runners), friendly marshals, quiet country lanes and brilliant cakes - a good way to spend a Sunday morning.

The results were very good today with a few PBs I think...

Saturday 8th March - CAFOD route with a twist

The start
15 group members out today - the forecast was for sunshine, high temperature, the start of spring weather - we got cold and windy weather ... but at least no rain!

Today's session was a combination of routes based upon the CAFOD route (group members chose whatever suited them)  - the canal and Middlewood Way were involved - some made it to Whiteley Green and others to Adlington Road - yet again we experienced how easy it is when the wind is behind you and how hard it is when it is against you.

Well done,

Neil and Ali

Saturday 1st March - Dorchester Loop - with a twist

The Start
Yet again we were lucky - the 1st of March and a lovely spring morning for the first E Group Street-O.

20 group members came out and gave this new type of session 100% - it was interesting that most people said that they ran further and faster than usual - I wonder why that was.

After a short session about which way up the map should go and what the strange wiggly lines were all about everybody seemed keen to get going. We have a brief (!) warm-up everybody grabbed the maps and headed off to find the 21 controls on the course (nobody managed to get them all by the way).

We managed to get a few pictures from the course (below) but it was hard to keep track of everybody! ... the course and results are shown below as well.

There seemed to be a sense of achievement as each group returned (pretty much on time) and the general opinion was that it is something that we should do every so often (if anybody wants to get involved just shout out!).

The winning team
The team that won this first session was Catherine Walton and Louise Brown (it must be the new shoes...)

If anybody wants to know more about creating the maps and clue sheets then please visit the Open Orienteering website at www.oomap.co.u

Well done everybody!
