Thursday 31st December 2015 - New Years Eve View

This morning, we met at Standing Stone Car Park at the top of Macclesfield Forest for one last run of the year. The route was beautiful, made better by the amazing sunshine (even though it was freezing!). We headed to the summit of Shutlingsloe and then over to the view from the benches. A lovely 5 mile run with some slight inclines...to finish 2015.

Thank you to everyone who came out and for running with E Group in 2015 - we have had so much fun and can't wait to see what 2016 brings!

Happy New Year,

E Group Leaders

Monday 28th December 2015 - CAFOD Fun Run

28th December is the date for the CAFOD Fun Run this year.
Choose either the 1 mile, 3  mile or 4.5 mile route along the canal and Middlewood.
Cost is normally around £7 to enter and all of the money raised goes to CAFOD.

Meet at St Albans in Bollington (parking is at the Art Centre and around the local area) - start time is 11am and you have to leave time to register so 10:15 is recommended.

Saturday 26th December - Boxing Day Handicap

Meeting Place: St Dunstan Inn - Langley
Registration from 10am
Start at 10.30am
Leaders: Neil G

This is a great race - I did it last year (With a rather hung-over Charlie B), & actually had a chance of winnng it. Yes, thats right...

To take park there are no Garmins, no watches, no phones, no gadgets.

Before the race begins, you have to specify how long you think it will take you to run the 4 mile course round Langley. The runner closest to their own time, wins!!
An undulating race, with a great atmosphere, especially good if you feel like you ate a bit too much on Christmas Day.

Registration on the day.

Approximate Duration: Thats the game!
Shoes: Road
Post run coffee plans: Drinks at the Dustan Inn

Saturday 12th December - Nancy at Christmas Time

This week, we decided to get the Christmas Attire back out of the draw from Tatton and run around Bollington and Kerridge dressed like Elves and Father Christmas - as you can expect, we got some strange looks!

We ran from Clough Bank, down the Middlewood, up to Rainow, up the muddy ridge (apologies) across to the TRIG TRIG TRIG and found out way to Nancy - where, Louise and Abi had kindly hidden some Bucks Fizz and chocolate nibbles, we then headed back down to Kerridge and back to the cars via the canal.

A lovely festive run in preparation for next weeks Christmas Corker!

Thank you to everyone for coming :)

Sunday 6th December - Tatton Yule Yomp

Fantastic turnout! Brilliant costumes, & wonderful running - even if the weather was a tad challenging!

And a special Well Done to all those who completed their first 10k today!!

Saturday 5th December - NO GROUP RUN

Apologies about the late notice but after communication on FB, we have decided to cancel this weeks run.

Most group members are resting for Tatton Yule Yomp or running elsewhere this weekend and so with low (or no) numbers, we have decided to cancel the run.

Good luck for Sunday everyone!

Saturday 21st November - Clough Bank Corker

This morning, 17 E Group runners decided to go on a little adventure around Kerridge. We ran down the Middlewood towards Marple and then back onto the canal in the opposite direction to warm up. We headed towards Kerridge, along an icy Lidgetts Lane and up onto the ridge. We were rewarded (after the mud and ice) with beautiful views of Macclesfield and Rainow - which was covered in snow. We ran along to White Nancy for a quick photo and back down to Clough Bank.

Excellent running this week from everyone, this was a challenging route in winter conditions.

We enjoyed coffee and bacon butties in the Waterside afterwards to thaw out!

See you next week,

Jenny, Wendy and Dawn

Saturday 14th November - Tittesworth Reservoir

This morning, 16 E Group runners met at Tittesworth Reservoir to run 4.5 - 5 miles around the water. We were lucky with the weather and had sunshine all the way around. The route saw us start at the visitor centre and run anti-clockwise. On route, we were spoilt with views of Staffordshire and Cheshire in the distance, taking in The Roaches, Shuttlingsloe and Bosley. The route was undulating - most of us expected it to be flat so it was a nice surprise!

There was the now standard practice of running around the car park to round up the miles on the GPS!

Tittesworth is only 25 minutes from Macclesfield and the run will be back by popular demand in the spring. Thank you Lou and Abi for finding a new route!

Jen, Abi and Lou :)
