Saturday 30th June

Today just Louise, Bev and Jo could make it. With time restrictions we decided on a usual 5k route and see how far we got and if we needed to cut off at some point. We started running from Riverside Park up the Middlewood Way. We ran around the football fields in Tytherington< across Rugby Drive and down Marlborough Drive. From there we made a decision to go straight across Manchester Road to the path by the Waterworks? We then ran through the paths on Tytherington links estate, eventually crossing Dorchester Way and onto the paths at the back of the houses (which runs parallel with the train track. We encountered cows along the way but finally finished before 10.30am and had run 3.1 miles.

Saturday 16th June

River Giffre
Neil was with the 'France' Run England Team (Alison) and did a lovely run in the Haute Savoie region of France (a woodland and river run). Despite the heat (27 deg C) Alison ran really well!

English report to follow ... I hope

Saturday 9th June

Neil was in Samoens
Today's word of the day was 'WET'. Despite the floods in Wales and persistent rain all week in Macc, Julie, Nina, and I braved the weather and met in Riverside Park at 9.30am. There was much discussion about today's route and how far to go (or go home) and we decided to run up the Middlewood Way to Clarke Lane, down Clarke Lane to the roundabout on the Silk Road, up Tytherington Lane, then down Manchester Road back to the car park. It turned out to be 3.7 miles and we ran at an average pace of 10.5 minute miles - good work. Today was a photo free zone but just imagine three drowned rats and you get the picture!

Saturday 2nd June

The group met at the Shirley's Drive Car Park in Prestbury - a great turnout with Dawn, Louise, Karen, Joanne, Sarah, Divya K & Julie. The request last week was for 'something different' and so this week we ran along the Bollin Valley north from Prestbury and out towards Mottram Hall. The route and ascent is shown in the picture below (click to enlarge).
Route and height gain
The route was a mix of road, trail and off-road and was a tough 4.4 miles - everybody ran really well but there were a few tired faces at the end  - you must all feel that you have come on a long way since you started with the group - imagine doing that route a few months ago! I am very impressed.

A few pictures below (click to enlarge) - sorry I did not get everyone equally!  ...

Have a great few weeks without me!
